WRITING A BIOGRAPHY: SALVADOR DALÍ

To write a biography you must explain the most important things about the life of the person in question. You must use the Past SImple. Sometimes you can also use the Past Continuous , for example, to explain something that happened while the person in question was doing another thing. For example: " WHile he was painting his famous portrait of Gala, he ...."
To help you write Dalí's biography, I suggest you some questions to answer. You can find all the information at the following address:
http://www.salvador-dali.org/mapa.html
REMEMBER: DO NOT COPY AND PASTE. Just write easy sentences in the past. If you answer all this questions with full answers, you will end up with a nice biography.
  • Where was he born? When?
  • Where did he study to become a painter? When?
  • When did he receive his first award?
  • Who were his friends?
  • In 1925, who spent his holidays with him in Cadaques?
  • When did he visit Paris for the first time? Who did he met there?
  • When did his paintings show its first surrealists' influences?
  • When did he met Gala?
  • He did two films with Buñuel, an important Spanish director, which were they?
  • Later he will also take a part in the screenplay of a Hollywood movie, which one? With whom?
  • In 1945, he worked with another important Hollywood director, who was he? In which movie?
  • When did he marry Gala and when?
  • What happens in 1964?
  • What did he buy in 1969?
  • When did he die? Where?

Dalí also made a lot of exhibitions, as you can read in his biography, you can also mention some of them. Salvador Dalí was a controversial figure, but now that you have read his biography, we must admit that he was a real genius, who did a lot of things, not only paintings: jewels, movies...GIVE YOUR OPINION ABOUT HIM.

ADD ALSO A LIST OF YOUR FAVOURITE PAINTINGS.

Here, you can watch and listen to an interview to Salvador Dalí in English.

FIGUERES

Thursday, November 08, 2007

If you have heard about Figueres, it is probably because of this . This is Salvador Dalí Museum. The surrealist painter was born in Figueres and every year thousands upon thousands of people visit it. I highly recommend you to visit it, especially at night.
Figueres has other important museums to visit such us the Toys Museum and the Empordà Museum.

Even though Figueres is not a city with a lot of old monuments, it has some places which I recommend you to visit. One of them is Sant Ferran castle, which you can see in the following image.

You can find a lot of information about Figueres in its tourism webpage:
Here you can read about Figueres' history, its monuments and the best places to visit. You will also find a list with all the restaurants, pubs and bars where to eat and have a good time. There is also information about all the hotels in Figueres and their respective prices. Most of the hotels have a website where you can see the hotel and its most beautiful rooms.
WE ALL HOPE TO SEE YOU IN FIGUERES!!!

SAUS, the place where I live

Hi, everybody!

My village is a small one, only about 75 inhabitants live here, but it is also very quiet and beautiful. Nearly all the houses are old, stone houses, and the streets are made of stones, too.

I love living here because I live in a big house with a small garden and a terrace where my kids can play and I can relax. There is hardly any noise here, just birds singing and dogs barking.

During the summer and at weekends my village changes a lot, because a lot of people from bigger towns, like Barcelona, come here to rest. We live in a very beautiful part of Catalonia, called "L' Empordà" which is very close to the sea.

HERE AGAIN!!!

HI, everyone!

It's been a long time since I wrote in my blog. I have had another baby and I was too busy to write anything. In fact, I'm writing again because from now on , together with Catherine, from Novara, and Maria, from Porto, we are going to do an e-Twining project with our students. I hope that we all enjoy this project, which basically consists in writing in our blogs and giving information about our respective cities, countries and other things related to them that we find interesting. SEE YOU SOON!
